Co-Director of Communications Crystal Sonson
My name is Crystal-Gale Sonson and I am a senior at Hawaii Pacific University School of Nursing. As the Co-Director of Communications, I help to manage the public relations aspect for HISNA in hopes to spread HISNA’s mission across the state. I also serve as the liaison for Hawaii’s nursing schools to ensure that they are informed of upcoming events and activities of HISNA. My goal for HISNA is to build and strengthen the organization’s role and reputation as a leader and to create more leadership opportunities where students are able to use their professional skills with professional counterparts in other associations.
As for my future nurse career, I plan on specializing in critical care and continuing my academic and clinical practice to achieve my Doctors in Nurse Practice. When I am not studying for an exam, I love to go to snorkeling at the beach, play basketball, and to my go-to-stress reliever…lift weights at the gym! What I have learned throughout nursing school is that it never gets easier; you just get stronger. As to why I want to be a nurse? It’s because I simply can’t see myself doing anything else.
