President: Jeramae Marcellano
Aloha and Greetings from the Hawai’i Student Nurses’ Association (HISNA)! It is a great privilege to introduce myself as this year’s President, on my second term and I am thrilled to serve alongside future nursing leaders. I am currently a senior student at Chaminade University of Honolulu and serve as Vice President for the Chaminade University of Honolulu Student Nurses’ Association.
I was introduced to community service early in my younger years and in collaboration with our church ministry, I participated in medical mission programs in the underprivileged districts of Manila, Philippines. At that age, I was only allowed to fellowship with other children and shadow the medical professionals. I recall watching my mother, a Public Health Nurse, dedicate her time in providing free medical assistance to various communities. Her compassion, influence, and my experiences first hand in caring for sick family members, are among the many inspirations that ultimately reaffirmed my decision to become a nurse.
This year I intend to continue on providing leadership, networking, scholarship, and community opportunities that will provide professional growth to all pre-nursing and nursing students. It is my goal to establish and maintain relationships with different organizations and let HISNA be recognized locally, nationally, and internationally.
On my spare time, which is very rare nowadays, I love taking photographs, watching HGTV, and traveling. I am excited to meet all of you and if I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
