Aloha and Greetings from the Hawai’i Student Nurses’ Association (HISNA)!  I hope you all had a restful summer, absorbed your adequate dose of vitamin-sea, and are well-prepared for this school year!

It is with great privilege to serve as HISNA’s President on my second term and I am thrilled to serve alongside future nursing leaders.  I am currently a senior student at Chaminade University of Honolulu and serves as the Vice President for the Chaminade University of Honolulu Student Nurses’ Association.

Indeed, we have an exciting year ahead of us and during your free time, I invite you to browse through our website and Facebook page to familiarize yourself with the new HISNA Board Members and be informed with our latest news and events.  Also, if you are in need of any assistance or would like to share your ideas and suggestions, please feel free to reach out to us.

I encourage you to be involved, network, have fun, and simply enjoy our time together!  I look forward to hearing from you and meeting you all at our future general meetings and events!

Thank you,
Jeramae

Continuing Competency for Nursing Summit (October 20, 2015), Pomaikai`i Ballrooms Dole Cannery:
Some of the HISNA Board Representatives were invited as panelists to the Hawai'i State Center for Nursing: Continuing Competency for Nursing Summit, last October 20, 2015.  Ashley Burt (Co-Graduate Consultant) and Jeramae Marcellano (President) represented the Hawai'i Student Nurses' Association (HISNA) during the Roundtable Discussion and reflected on the communication methods that is currently being used by HISNA.  Through general meetings, legislative representation in the Hawai'i Action Coalitions, the use of social networks, website, and emails, HISNA is committed to bring awareness of the newly passed, Continuing Competency Requirements for Nurses, Act 127 to the nursing students of Hawai'i.

Lessons in Leadership Series
HISNA Participated in the "Lesson's in Leadership Series" as a Student Panel where we highlighted opportunities and pathways to leadership through experiences and opportunities.
Here is a video of this event!
